About the church in Europe

The city of Budapest has over 1.7 million residents. Only 2.7% of Hungarians are Christians. The prominent religion of Budapest is Roman Catholic. 60% of Hungary's industry is concentrated in and around Budapest. Many worldwide companies for production of domestic equipment have located their factories here. Many young professionals are moving to Budapest from bordering countries due to job opportunities.

In September of 2011, a vision team traveled to Budapest. During the trip the team was able to spend  time with Trey Shaw, field coordinator, church planter, David Hamar, and Monte and April Baker, FBC IMB missionaries. The team experienced the city of Budapest, the target area of Agora church, and the church facility itself. Insight was gained into the difficulty of the daily ministry there. The team witnessed the aftermath of a people oppressed by communism who now live in great affluence in a cosmopolitan culture. Agora Church has been meeting in the University district of Budapest for one year and continues to struggle to grow and mature its  members. Through RS7 we have been able to assist financially through providing rugs, a projector and screen for movie discussions, and a specialty coffee maker. RS7 will be part of the Mark Project, an effort to make the Gospel of Mark available in contemporary Hungarian to capture the interest of the typically cynical Hungarian university student
