About the church in North America

New York City, the crossroads of the world, has 8.1 million people & 800 different languages with 139 languages spoken in one zip code. Yet on any given Sunday, only 5% attend an evangelical church. 98% live in high rise apartments.

The North America church plant is up and running in Brooklyn, New York.  Pastor Jaime Zelaya has New Beginnings Church praying, reaching, and cleaning the community through Acts of Kindness.  The church’s goal is to be Jesus instead of just talking about him.  People are coming to know the Lord and the church is made up of all the ethnic groups in the Williamsburg Brooklyn area.  On any given Sunday you can find up to six different ethnic groups represented.  They are also using their facility as an opportunity to train other churches in urban missions.  We have a close working relationship with New Beginnings and absolutely love the Zeleya family.  As you know, we raised over $5,000 this year to provide his daughter Leah with an elevator chair lift for their upstairs apartment. We have four trips planned for next year…one of which is a production of Thanatos.

APPROXIMATE COST: $850 Includes round trip airfare, ground transportation in NYC, lodging and most meals. 

PURPOSE OF THE TRIP
Short Term Mission Trip To continue to equip and encourage New Beginnings Church, our RS7 North America Church Plant.
Evangelism outreach
Discovering and working with local ministries/churches
Prayer-walking
Social ministry
Seeing the ministry need and developing a burden and passion within participants for the people groups of New York City.
Work strategically with the Metropolitan New York Baptist Association in any areas where they need assistance.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY: Moderate to Extreme:  Expect to walk ½ to ¾ mile routes multiple times per day, climbing flights of stairs in numerous underground subway stations.

Ways To Pray:
For people in New York City to repent and turn for their sins.  Pray for a movement of God that starts in the city and reaches the world.
Pray for pastor Jaime Zelaya as he equips and leads his church. Pray for godly men to rise up, be trained, and lead.
Pray for Metropolitan Baptist Association Director (and field coordinator) George Russ to have the resources he needs to plant churches and equip churches in the Metropolitan area.
