Grace – Don’t Live Your Life Without It
By Pastor Jerry Goodell
Ephesians 1:3-23
Ephesians 1:7-8
In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our
trespasses, according to the riches of His grace which He lavished on
us. In all wisdom and insight
I have chosen to close this devotional with a celebration of God’s grace. I have been blessed to
experience the Lord’s grace in every phase of my life. As a young boy, He poured out His grace to
me by
filling my life with knowledge of Him. As a young man, He continued to be a giver of grace
even though I
had no time for Him. When I was saved in Vietnam, I experienced His grace like no other time in my
life –
His saving grace! But, that was only the beginning. I grew to know Him more personally and His Word
began to be real and precious to me.
Over the years Christ has given me grace without measure:
Grace that shows great patience.
Grace that forgives sin.
Grace that gives great opportunities.
Grace that gives strength at times when I don’t think I can go on.
Grace that never, never, never ends!
As I close, I want to say that wherever you are in life and whatever you are facing, please know that
the Lord wants to give you His grace abundantly. He is the God of the “second chance” and the God
of
“new beginnings.” There is nothing you have done or could do that would make it
impossible to experience
His grace.
We often define grace as “undeserved favor.” We can’t earn it – we can’t be good enough to deserve
it. However, the Lord is waiting to give you grace any time you ask for it. The first step is accepting His
grace in salvation. After becoming a part of His family through salvation, you will discover that our Lord is
a continual giver of grace. We have not because we ask not.
An advertisement on TV for a particular credit card implores us “don’t leave home without it.” The
message we see throughout life concerning God’s grace is “don’t live life without it.”
Life can be difficult,
we can make many mistakes and face many difficulties, but God’s grace is available to see us through it all.
Don’t live your life without it!
God Bless,
