About the church plant in South America

The Amazon Basin is the part of South America drained by the Amazon River and its tributaries. 40% of the Amazon Basin is located in Brazil. The river is the principle path of transportation for people and produce in the regions, with transport ranging from balsa rafts and dugout canoes to hand built wooden rivercraft and modern steel hulled craft. Many people live in villages along the Amazon but, do not have a church facility that they can worship in or learn about God. The people of Brazil are hungry for the word of God and to hear the Gospel message.

The RS7 Church Plant outside the city of Santarem, Brazil has officially started and what an amazing beginning this church has had! In just the first four months of this church plant God has truly worked and blessed. The congregation has rented a small building in which to meet and now have 22 members and are averaging 29-32 in attendance each Sunday. This church under the leadership of Pastor Mario Batista has already seen six professions of faith and has baptized three. The church has now purchased property and will begin building in early 2012. The church is using the property for special events and outreach to the community. The Bela Vista Community Church is located in the Bela Vista area outside the city of Santarem and is a community with a population of 14,000. They are known as the “forgotten community” of Santarem. Already, this RS7 church plant has made an “impact” in this community stating that “you are forgotten no more.”
